On the 21st March 2019, Emilia Clarke shared her deeply personal experiences of brain injury. She spoke of having two neurosurgeries and the consequent neurological symptoms such as losing her speech, pain, fatigue and the psychological impact. She has lived with the profound uncertainty that it may happen again, and, the ultimate fear that her own brain might kill her. Horrible as this all was, she realised she was not alone and that others had experienced similar things.
Telling Emilia's story was only the start of SameYou's journey as we grow and act as a catalyst to increase access to rehabilitation services and improved recovery for young adults after brain injury and stroke.
If you have a brain injury story that you would like to share - as a survivor or carer, we would love to hear from you.
We hope that your stories and experiences will help unbreak the silience and stigma around this invisible injury.
