Online peer support groups for people affected by brain injury

Recovering from a brain injury can feel isolating. Even when rehabilitation has ended, many survivors and family members continue to face challenges that other people may not fully understand.

Peer support creates an opportunity to connect with people who have lived through similar experiences. It can help people feel heard, understood and less alone as they adjust to life after brain injury.

What is SameChat?

SameChat is SameYou’s online peer support programme for people affected by brain injury.

SameChat brings small groups of people together in a relaxed and supportive online space. Participants can share experiences, ask questions, exchange practical ideas or simply listen to others who understand what recovery can be like.

Groups are facilitated to help ensure that everyone feels welcomed, respected and able to participate in the way that feels right for them.

Separate groups may be available for:

  • People recovering from a brain injury

  • Family members, friends and carers supporting someone with a brain injury

SameChat is not a clinical service or a replacement for medical or mental health support.

Why join a SameChat group?

Being part of a peer support group may help people to:

  • Feel less isolated

  • Meet others with similar lived experiences

  • Talk openly without having to explain every aspect of brain injury

  • Share practical ideas for navigating everyday life and recovery

  • Build confidence and a wider support network

  • Feel heard, understood and supported

Register your interest

We are not currently accepting new participants into our general SameChat groups, but we would like to run more groups in the future.

By registering your interest, you will help us understand how many survivors, family members and carers would benefit from SameChat and where new groups are most needed.

We will keep your details securely and contact you when a suitable opportunity becomes available. Registering your interest does not guarantee an immediate place, and there is no obligation to take part.
