Paul fell ill to Covid in March 2020. During his hospitalisation, he had two strokes.

Paul on the importance of advocacy: "Recovery from brain injury needs ongoing care. Too many people in the world do not have access to that. We need to advocate for access to care, for support to people with brain injury to allow them to lead fulfilling lives - and for society to recognise how much people with brain injury can contribute."
